FOUNDATION GRANT-MAKING

The Tri-Valley Community Foundation seeks to
make strategic, prudent, and creative grants to
address vital community needs and opportunities.

While most of our grants are recommended by donors
from their own charitable funds to support favored
charities or causes, the Foundation makes
proactive
grants to local nonprofit organizations and schools
through its
 unrestricted fund -- the TVCF
Community Impact Fund
.  Funded organizations
and schools must be exempt from federal income taxes
under the Internal Revenue Code and serve residents of
Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville,
Alamo, or Sunol.

Exciting initiatives are under way at the Foundation to
create new, sustainable funding streams for
a new
competitive
grants program and, supported by a grant
from AT&T
, to develop new web-based channels for
mentoring and building the capacity of nonprofit
organizations in our community.  Continue to watch
the website for details, or
contact us for more
information.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO NONPROFITS

In addition to our grant-making, the Foundation
offers free technical assistance to local nonprofits
to help them build their capacity to respond
effectively to local needs.
 Foundation staff are
available to provide assistance with all aspects of
nonprofit management, including staffing and
organizational development, fundraising, recruiting a
board of directors, fiscal practices, program
development, and computer and web-based technology
for nonprofits.

The Foundation is re-
designing its grants
program
around new,
sustainable funding
streams that emphasize
community-corporate
partnerships.
  Our aim
is to offer larger,
potentially renewable
or multi-year grants
through a new
competitive grants
program.

Check back here in 2008
for updates as we
finalize and launch
these new partnerships.
We expect to have
information by fall of
2008 about opening our
new competitive grants
cycle.  The new grants
program
will include
workshops for grant
seekers that will
:

(1) explain the new
grant application
process,
(2) offer practical help
with fundraising and
capacity building, and
(3) provide an
opportunity  for local
nonprofits to network
and collaborate.

If you would like to be on
the mailing list to
receive updates about
our new grants program,
send us an email
(with
"Grants Mailing List" as
the Subject line)
that:

(1)  briefly describes
your organization,

(2) tells us a little about
your possible funding
interests,

(3) gives us contact
information -- address,
phone, FAX, email -- for
your organization,
including the name of a
staff contact  person.
